Arrived!

Da jia how! (Hello Everyone) from Taipei, Taiwan! I arrived early this morning and stepped off the plane bombarded with the Taiwanese paparazzi. No, incredibly, they were not there to photograph me… to my confusion and dismay… J Apparently there was a famous Taiwanese couple that were on my flight. I was walking behind them for a little bit while the cameras were filming, so I thought I might be in some of the shots, but was not... But an exciting start to the day! Managed to lift 3 50lb suitcases and one 25 lb carry on onto one cart and met my cousins who were waiting for me.

My place here is very cozy. Very large room with a queen size bed and is completely furnished with everything I need. Apparently I should have asked if there was a refrigerator in the apartment before agreeing to rent, but it should be fine as I don’t really feel like cooking here.

My cousins took me to eat my first bowl of noodles and took me to get a cell phone, open a bank account, get a government ID #, and register for classes. Very busy day but I’m so glad to have my cousins! Almost unpacked, and thinking of taking a train trip tomorrow to visit the rest of the family in Tai Nan! I’ll keep you updated—here’s the link to my Taiwan blog… Check it out to keep updated on my travels!

  1. Wow Christine! You are going to learn so much while you are there! I'm so proud of you for making the move. I remember 15 years ago when we arrive in Taiwan, what a thrill it was to meet all your cousins and then go to Tai Nan where we met your aunt, the one with all her addresses stored on little scraps of paper in her farming hat! She looked so much like your mother, except a farmer version. I hope that everything goes well with your housing situation what will the drunk girl and stuff!!?? You can eat out and find your favorite foods, but PLEAZ learn to cook!!!!
    Take care, girl!
Keep up your blog! Also you can read my boring blog, though I have to update it still.

    Love,
    Yu Yun Mei
